Policy Research Intern

The IPRG Internship Program is designed to provide aspiring researchers, policy enthusiasts, and students with structured training and exposure to the world of public policy, governance, and social research. Selected interns will work in a collaborative environment, gaining practical insights into research writing, field work, and social campaigns. A certificate will be issued upon successful completion of the program in accordance with the evaluation criteria.

Requirements

Applicants from social sciences, humanities, law, economics, or related fields are encouraged to apply. The program welcomes candidates who demonstrate a keen interest in public policy research and analytical writing.

A degree in one of the following may provide an advantage:

  • Public policy,
  • political science,
  • international relations,
  • Economics,
  • law,
  • anthropology,
  • sociology,
  • or related disciplines
Responsibilities

As a Policy Research Intern at IPRG, you will:

1. Collaborative Research Writing – Interns are required to write a research paper as part of a group of minimum four members, under the guidance of the HR coordinator.

2. One-Month Internship Structure – The internship will span 1 month, divided as follows:

20 days dedicated to drafting, structuring, and completing the group research paper.

10 days allotted for field work/visits in your locality, where interns will engage with local governance systems, institutions, or social initiatives.

3. Daily/Periodic Tasks – Interns will be assigned daily or bi-weekly tasks related to social media engagement, policy awareness campaigns, or community outreach.

4. Evaluation Criteria – Each component of the internship (Research Paper, Field Work, and Social Media/Campaign Tasks) will carry equal weightage, totalling 100 marks. Interns must achieve at least 50% of the overall score to be eligible for the internship completion certificate.

5. Research Paper Submission – Interns are mandated to work in groups for research paper writing but are not obligated to publish with IPRG.

6. Publication Policy – Publication is at the discretion of interns. If chosen, interns must bear the applicable publication charges as mentioned in the IPRG’s official Publication Charges Section.

7. Publication Certificate – Interns who opt to publish and complete the process will receive a Publication Certificate, in addition to their Internship Completion Certificate.

8. Completion Certificate Guarantee – Non-publication with IPRG will not affect the issuance of the internship completion certificate, provided the minimum evaluation criteria are met.

9. External Publication Clause – Interns who choose to publish their articles independently, outside IPRG, are required to acknowledge and credit IPRG before publishing in any external journal or platform.

Skills Required

To succeed in this internship, you should possess:

  • A strong interest in Public Policy, International Relations, Environment and Climate Change, or allied subjects in the humanities and social sciences.
  • Prior experience in research or association with government bodies, NGOs, or organizations will be considered an advantage.
  • Good writing, analytical, and presentation skills, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive attitude towards fieldwork, social awareness, and campaign-related activities.
